Are Some Ring Settings Safer Than Others?

Yes, some ring settings are designed to offer more protection than others. The choice of setting depends on factors like durability and how often the ring will be worn. Here are some key points:

Types of Settings and Their Safety:

  • Prong Settings: Common, but the prongs can catch on fabric or objects, leading to the stone coming loose. Regular check-ups are necessary.

  • Bezel Settings: Surround the stone with metal, offering more security. Less chance of the stone being damaged or lost.

  • Channel Settings: Stones set into the metal, providing a smooth surface. Safe for daily wear as stones are less exposed.

  • Flush Settings: Stones sit level with the metal surface. Very secure, but harder to adjust or resize.

Why it Matters:

  • Frequency of Use: The more often you wear a ring, the more important it is to choose a setting that can withstand daily wear and tear.

  • Protection for Stones: Settings that cover the stones more fully (like bezel and channel) reduce the risk of damage or loss.

Choosing the right setting ensures longevity, comfort, and safety for your ring.
